The Berkshires: The Inn at Kenmore Hall

Have you ever planned a trip around a place to stay? Or is that just me? 😉 Honestly, I do this fairly often. But what can I say? I’m a sucker for stylish interior design and comfort.

The Inn at Kenmore Hall hits all the boxes: stylish, comfortable, and nestled in the beautiful Berkshire hills. And the cherry on top? The owners have the most ADORABLE and well behaved pup, Dutch.

The Property

Built in 1792, you can’t help but wonder what kind of history the property has seen. The inn is owned and operated by Frank Muytjens and Scott Edward Cole, one a fashion designer and the other an artist and restaurateur. With this collective experience, you know you’re in for an unforgettable bed & breakfast experience.

Additionally, it sits on 20 acres of land that is a joy to walk around and explore. The autumnal colors were magnificent during our visit in October of 2019.

The Room

One thing you’ll notice about the property is not a single detail is overlooked. From the artwork to the bedding, you can expect that no matter what room you stay in, you will be both inspired and comfortable.

We stayed in Room Five, a smaller room with a queen sized bed, but no less impressive than any other space in the house. The blue of the room is both beautiful and welcoming (and even matched my suitcase!). There’s a fireplace that adds a nice touch and we also found both bottled water and some delicious local chocolates awaiting us in the room. Aesop toiletries are found in the attached bathroom, as well as a large bathtub/shower and a radiant heated tiled floor.

Common Spaces & Dining

As with the room, all of the common spaces are artfully designed and clearly created with comfort and luxury in mind. After you get settled into your room, you’re invited to visit the parlor where a stocked bar cart and more chocolates await you. And, as I always say, there are few better pairings than bourbon and chocolate. This was definitely one of my favorite spaces in the house.

Definitely take some time to wander around the rest of the common areas in the house. The entry way is particularly impressive. And who wouldn’t feel inspired while looking out at that view??

Amenities & Activities

As this is a bed and breakfast, expect a delicious breakfast spread! We were greeted with some local made apple cider doughnuts when we came down in the morning. Seriously, when in New England in the fall, do not miss these little delights! You’re given a menu that offers a variety of hot breakfast items as well. Would 100% recommend the blueberry pancakes. Possibly the best I’ve ever had.

After breakfast, I recommend walking around the grounds. The property is huge and has some really pretty, easy nature trails. There’s also a picturesque orchard on site. Spend about an hour enjoying the fresh air and views of the Berkshires.

The Location

The Inn at Kenmore Hall is located in western Massachusetts, just past the border with New York. It’s in a secluded area, which makes it great for a relaxing stay surrounded by nature. However, it’s close to a handful of cute little towns that offer some great options for dinner and shopping. We popped over to nearby Lenox for dinner, about a 15 minute drive. There were some great restaurant options in town, just make sure to have a reservation during more popular tourist seasons. Even though it may seem like you’re in the middle of nowhere, most restaurants were booked solid on the night we were there!

If you need any suggestions, the owners of the Inn are more than happy to provide you with their recommendations for the area, too.

Price

High season rates for the inn start at $425 but drop to $375 in off-season. Rate is inclusive of all on-site amenities including a cooked to order breakfast.

The Inn at Kenmore Hall is a special property that will stay with you long after you’ve checked out. I really appreciated the little details and unexpected amenities on property (like the help yourself cocktail cart!). It would be a lovely stay during any season, but of course autumn is a particularly magical time to visit this region of the United States.

But whenever you go…make sure to say hi to Dutch for me 🙂
