About

Hi! I'm Carolyn.

I’ve been traveling all my life, but my first international trip was as a 17 year old senior in high school. Since then, I’ve never kept my feet in one place for too long!

I grew up in Dayton, Ohio, and I’m currently based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I’ve also had opportunities to live in Japan, Canada, and various locations in the US, which have given me ample travel opportunities and new perspectives.

Through my personal experience, I’ve honed my planning skills while navigating extreme highs and lows while traveling. And I am constantly thinking about my next adventure. Through this site, I hope to share with you plenty of inspiration, travel tips and recommendations, and my own custom itineraries.

My Travel Style

My style is approximately 75% planned and 25% spontaneous. This may still seem like a lot of planning for the spontaneity lovers out there…but trust me, I’ve come a LONG way! I do a lot of research prior to visiting a place. I research what to do, where to eat, and where to stay. And I use this planning to help me on the mornings, afternoons, and days I intentionally leave free. (You’ll know this time on my itineraries as it’s labeled “Wander. Ramble. Roam.”) I figure out what the regional food specialties are in advance…and for my non-planned meals, I pick restaurants that have those dishes. I figure out the best neighborhoods in advance…and when picking my place to stay in those neighborhoods, I know I’ll have some great exploring time and opportunities. I’ve learned through a LOT of trial and error, that leaving some free time helps me better deal with plans that go awry. It gives me more flexibility and also allows for some beautiful experiences to happen organically. It also REALLY helps my husband’s mental state…. “Carolyn, can we PLEASE do nothing today??” — said to me in the middle of a three week trip to Hawaii where I literally had EVERY. SINGLE. MINUTE. Planned. See! I’ve learned 😉

Where I Specialize

If you’re looking for someone to help you plan your next trip, here are some examples of what I specialize in:

  • Couples travel, romantic travel. I travel mostly with my husband, Josh. You’ll hear his name a lot around here.
  • Small group travel. I love traveling with friends, and as you can imagine, most of them love traveling with a super planner like me! My preferred group is 4 people, but I’ve traveled with more and had a great time.
  • Weekend getaways. I do these at least once a month and think they’re such an excellent way to get in some extra exploring. Local weekends away is key right now, in the COVID-19 era!
  • Luxury travel. While I believe in traveling on a budget, I’m not a low-budget traveler.
  • Local food. From delicious, inexpensive street food to 15-course fine dining, I am a foodie first and always. You’ll also find that I dedicate a LOT of time to shopping at local markets, especially when I’m staying in an Airbnb.
  • Local alcohol. Specifically, craft breweries, wineries, and whisky distilleries.
  • City exploring and walking guides.
  • Incorporating nature into your travels. Hiking, kayaking, just being outside in general.
